Since the post was made, things have changed - companies closed, some were sold and others simply disappeared. It was the early days of the huge internet boom and everyone was rushing in to get a slice of it. Even though most people did not fully have a clear idea what they were getting into, just have a service people used was enough.

Today, companies are very wary how they set up and provide services. Unless of course you are the likes of Twitter and Foursquare. These companies obviously lack a clear business strategy despite each of them have close to 500 million subscribers each.

So, if you are looking for a free internet telephone call, you will be disappointed. It does not happen anymore.

What a sigh of relieve, we've just finished a module as part of the application we are developing for a client, and the testing seemed ok.

Having spent the last few days writing the final code and documentation for this module, I think its time we let our hair down and have a beer or two... This module has been the most challanging so far. The reason being that it involved us changing alot of the original design as specified by the client; I know this is always the case with most projects, but this was different because the design we to use a low-level system call and we could not achieve this with Java alone. So, we ended up writing C/C++ DLLs to help achieve this.

But anyway, as seemed ok after the initial testing. They are happy with the result and we are embarking on the remaining phase Monday next week.
